Osman Mir (b. 22 May 1974, Vayor, Kutch) is a Gujarati singer of ghazal, Sufi, bhajan and folk music. He began as a tabla player, sang “Mor Bani Thanghat Kare” in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram-Leela (2013) and received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2022.

Osman Mir was born on 22 May 1974 in Vayor, Kutch, into a family of musicians. His father Husenbhai played tabla for bhajan and santvani gatherings, and Osman was on stage beside him at thirteen. He went on to accompany the bhajanik Narayan Swami. A Gurupurnima evening at Morari Bapu’s ashram in Talgajarda, where he was invited to sing, turned the tabla player into a vocalist. His repertoire now spans ghazal, Sufi kalaam and qawwali, bhajan, sugam sangeet, Gujarati folk and lok dayro. Sanjay Leela Bhansali chose him for “Mor Bani Thanghat Kare” in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), and he has since sung for Gujarati and Hindi films and toured the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, East Africa and the Gulf. In March 2024 President Droupadi Murmu presented him the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2022 (Creative & Experimental Music). He now performs and records with his son, Aamir Mir.

ઓસમાણ મીર (જન્મ: 22 મે 1974, વાયોર, કચ્છ) ગઝલ, સૂફી, ભજન અને લોકસંગીતના ગુજરાતી ગાયક છે. તબલાવાદક તરીકે શરૂઆત કરનાર ઓસમાણ મીરે સંજય લીલા ભણસાલીની ‘રામ-લીલા’ (2013)માં “મોર બની થનગાટ કરે” ગાયું અને વર્ષ 2022 માટેનો સંગીત નાટક અકાદમી પુરસ્કાર મેળવ્યો.

ઓસમાણ મીરનો જન્મ 22 મે 1974ના રોજ કચ્છના વાયોર ગામે સંગીતકાર પરિવારમાં થયો. પિતા હુસેનભાઈ ભજન-સંતવાણીમાં તબલાં વગાડતા, અને તેર વર્ષની ઉંમરે ઓસમાણ તેમની સાથે મંચ પર બેસવા લાગ્યા. પછી તેમણે ભજનિક નારાયણ સ્વામી સાથે સંગત કરી. તલગાજરડામાં મોરારિબાપુના આશ્રમે ગુરુપૂર્ણિમાની એક સાંજે તેમને ગાવાનું કહેવાયું, અને એ સાંજે તબલાવાદક ગાયક બન્યા. આજે તેમનો સ્વર ગઝલ, સૂફી કલામ, કવ્વાલી, ભજન, સુગમ સંગીત, લોકગીત અને લોકડાયરા સુધી વિસ્તરેલો છે. સંજય લીલા ભણસાલીએ ‘ગોલિયોં કી રાસલીલા રામ-લીલા’ (2013) માટે “મોર બની થનગાટ કરે” ગાવા તેમને પસંદ કર્યા. ત્યાર પછી તેમણે ગુજરાતી અને હિન્દી ફિલ્મોમાં ગાયું છે અને અમેરિકા, યુકે, કેનેડા, ઑસ્ટ્રેલિયા, પૂર્વ આફ્રિકા તથા ખાડી દેશોમાં પ્રવાસ કર્યો છે. માર્ચ 2024માં રાષ્ટ્રપતિ દ્રૌપદી મુર્મુએ તેમને સર્જનાત્મક અને પ્રાયોગિક સંગીત માટે વર્ષ 2022નો સંગીત નાટક અકાદમી પુરસ્કાર અર્પણ કર્યો. હવે તેઓ પુત્ર આમિર મીર સાથે કાર્યક્રમો અને રેકોર્ડિંગ કરે છે.
